How can you help? I will help you by actively listening. My sessions are informative, lively and interactive. I will help you understand why you may be feeling the way you are. I will teach you ways to overcome those feelings using the latest psychotherapeutic tools and techniques. I have different techniques that help overcome anxiety, depression, sleep issues, grief, and trauma. The techniques I teach are life skills. My clients go back to them time and time again when they need to.
What can I expect from our first session? Everyone is different and I’m guided by your emotional needs. I listen to what is happening in your life and how you would like that to change. By asking sensitive questions I will help you find some clarity about why you may be feeling like you do. Some people are nervous about starting therapy. There is nothing to worry about - my approach is calming, gentle, and positive. My aim is to help you feel better from the very first session.
How to pay? Payment can be made by cash or bank transfer on the day of your appointment. If you need to change or cancel your appointment, please give as much notice as you can. I will not charge for sessions cancelled with at least 48 hours notice. When less than 48 hours notice is provided the full charge will be incurred. This allows me to keep our regular session which is dedicated to you for our contracted time together.
Where can I park? There is free parking outside the property along the Ware Road. Please note, this is a busy road. Alternatively, if you wish to park in a car park, there is free parking in Tescos, Ware Road (SG14 1QA), for a two hour duration, or, at the Madford Retail, Ware Road (SG13 7RQ) again, for a two hour duration. Access to my cabin is through a black side gate to the right of the property via a path to the end of my garden.
Do you just work with adults? I work with all those aged 16 and above. I do not work with couples.
Do you offer any concessions or students discounts? I have a limited capacity in order to give my very best to my clients, therefore I am unable to offer any concessions or discounts.
Where do you work? I see people in person from my garden cabin in Hertford, Hertfordshire. My beautiful room is at the end of a 150ft therapeutic garden. The calming space is often filled with birdsong. My cabin room is a ten-minute walk from Hertford East railway station, a 29-minute walk from Hertford North railway station station or a minutes-walk from different bus routes, I work over FaceTime or Skype.
How long do I need to see you? Everyone is different but I ask you comment to a minimum of six sessions. Some people I see for just six sessions and some people for much longer. I strive to help people in as few sessions as possible.
Confidentiality Mutual trust is fundamental to our work together. I work in accordance with the BACP Ethical Principles of Counselling & Psychotherapy and these can be found at www.bacp.co.uk. Everything we talk about remains in total confidence, except in exceptional circumstances if: - I consider either you or another person is at risk of harm - I am required to divulge information by a Court of Law - If terrorist activity is suspected In any of the above circumstances, where possible I aim to discuss the matter with you first. What if you know someone I talk about, or we see each other outside of sessions? I will make you aware if I think I recognise someone you talk about and I consider there could be a conflict of interest. My professional code of confidentiality and personal therapy leave me able to set aside my own experience of mutual acquaintances so we can focus solely on your relationship with those you mention. You can speak openly about anyone in the sessions, without fear of breach of confidentiality. We will agree at the outset just how you would like to handle any chance meeting between us outside of the therapy room. What if you think you can’t help me? If either of us feel the service I offer is unsuitable for you, or your availability makes working together unachievable, I will give you the option of referral on to another professional individual or organisation.
